The Firm

For three generations, Owen family trial lawyers have vigorously represented their clients in the Golden Triangle, and throughout the state of Mississippi. David Owen has practiced law since 1983. He is licensed in all Mississippi state and federal Courts, as well as the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

David's office is in Columbus, Mississippi. He emphasizes his practice in plaintiff personal injury and wrongful death. He also practices, as he calls it, "small town law," and has the staff and capabilities to represent anyone's interest in the simplest or most complex legal matters. He represents criminal defendants, as well.

The Owen family of lawyers have fought hard for their clients to ensure that basic constitutional right are enjoyed by all of their clients.

David never has, nor will he ever, represent the insurance industry. David recognizes, though his years of practice, that the insurance industry has tried to harm the average person more than it has ever helped. It is simple: You are not "a good neighbor" and they are NOT there when you need them. Insurance companies will discourage the participation of a lawyer because they do not want the average person to have the protection they have.

Our founding fathers drafted the 7th Amendment to the United Constitution to withstand the tyranny they fought and bled for. The 7th Amendment is simple: "In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law." Patriots John Adams and Thomas Jefferson held the basic precepts that: "Representative government and trial by jury are the heart and lungs of liberty," and "I consider trial by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution."

Simply put, you are entitled to a jury trial.

The Owen family of lawyers has fought hard for their clients to ensure that this basic constitutional right is enjoyed by all of their clients. This is done even in the face of representatives who want to re-write the constitution and turn their backs on the very people who elected them. Your "representative," and other representatives for insurance, seeks to trample the Constitution and promote their own pecuniary interests, and the interest of their employers, the insurance industry. Their job is to represent their constituents, not the insurance conglomerates.

David, his father and grandfather, have attempted to do right in their community.
